Las Ramblas is the famous stroll in the city center of Barcelona. Mimes and mimics are present along La Rambla and is busy both day and night. There are newsagents, florists, street performers, cafes, restaurants and shops. Painters and artists are also installed in the Rambla de Santa Monica, just before reaching the port, next to the little market. Located on the Rambla you may see cultural buildings like the Palau de la Virreina (palace of the viceroy), the Mercat de la Boqueria and the famous Liceo Theatre (cat. El Liceu), where opera is programmed. Very close to the Rambla is Plaça Reial (Plaza Real), a square surrounded by arcades and crowned by a fountain around which you can see some of the works of great Gaudí in initiatic phase.
